HOW IT WORKS
Helps you fall asleep so you can experience your dreams
Why weighted blankets?
Many of our customers experience less racing thoughts, a calmer mind, and deeper, more relaxing sleep when using their Scandinavian Weighted Blanket.
But don't take our word for it - numerous studies have proven that deep pressure stimulation (which weighted blankets utilize) can reduce restlessness and sleep problems.
The best part is that you don't need to suffer from poor sleep to enjoy the benefits of a weighted blanket. Many people use their Scandinavian Weighted Blanket to achieve deeper and more effective REM sleep - so they have increased brain capacity, less restlessness, and more energy in their daily lives.
The benefits of a weighted blanket come from something called the proprioceptive sense or "deep pressure stimulation."
Our brain constantly sends "questions" to the body about its position in its surroundings.
Our weighted blanket provides feedback to the proprioceptive sense, answering these questions, which allows our brain to relax better - perfect for brains filled with thoughts and questions that cannot find peace.

There is a wealth of research on both weighted blankets and the technique behind "Deep Pressure Touch Stimulation" (DPTS), which is known in Danish as "dyb søkke stykke stimulering". Here we have highlighted some of the studies that conclude the positive effect of weighted blankets on people.
Swedish sleep researcher Gaby Badre researched the use of weighted blankets with the aim of reducing insomnia. In this study, it was generally concluded that a weighted blanket had a positive effect on the participants' sleep. The participants particularly experienced that they found it easier to calm down and the study indicates that everyone had a sleep with less movement and more relaxation. (Source)

In 2010, a study was published on the use of ball pillows to treat sleep problems. The study concluded that the use of ball pillows is highly relevant and effective, especially when it comes to falling asleep faster. In children with ADHD, the study concluded that the 20% of participants who previously had to spend over 30 minutes falling asleep were reduced to 0%. This means that all children with ADHD fell asleep in less than 30 minutes, simply by using a ball pillow. (Source)
A 2008 study investigated the therapeutic effect of deep tactile pressure stimulation through the use of a weighted blanket. The study found that of the 32 adult participants, 33% had less EDA when using it, 63% experienced less anxiety when using it, and 78% preferred the weighted blanket as a means of calming down.(Source)
